If you’d like to learn about the new social media in order to learn to game or manipulate it, you’re in with the wrong crowd here.
We believe that there is a huge shift going on from the command-and-control perspective of consumer capitalism to a more open and humanist version of capitalism in which involuntary lock-in is replaced by voluntary loyalty earned through superior service and long-lasting relationships.
Here are some of the statements of principles or missions in which we believe:
- The Support Economy Principles, crafted by Shoshana Zuboff and James Maxmin, which describe the dynamics and values systems of federated support networks that offer deep service;
- eBay’s Values, which begin with “We believe that people are basically good,” which is not a naive statement, but rather a statement of intent that carries through its actions; and
- The MeatballMission, crafted by Sunir Shah to express the way MeatballWiki, the wiki community he founded, lives.
